I had to postpone my flight again on Friday as Gareth assured me that I need my Carnet stamped by the Australian customs when the bike is leaving the country. As my carnet was with the bike, the wharf closed for the weekend and customs not working either I needed to arrange this on Monday. So I called the customs in the morning today, arranged to meet the customs officer at 2 o’clock in front of the main wharf gate and so now I have it. I had to go to the wharf a couple of hours before that to get the Carnet from one of my packaged panniers. It was easier than I thought which was great. I also managed to remember to get some more anti-malaria tablets from another pannier as I wouldn’t have had enough for the over two weeks long wait for the bike to arrive into Malaysia.
Having that done I had some free time to finish reading one of my professional books so that I can send it back home with Tanja’s bike tomorrow.
